Silver and Gold

The last dance beneath an autumn sky.

Two lovers holding onto the past.

Twenty years saying their goodbyes.

Twenty years since they kissed by a silver star.

A chance meeting beneath a canopy of gold.

The leaves frowning between silver drops of sorrow.

Two lovers wondering if they paid too much

and if second chances were a myth.

Broken dreams once so boldΒ

wondering what happened to the moon.

Jim married to a girl three blocks over

and Sam on her way back home.

The answer left beneath the leaves.

Two lovers leaving the years behind,

remembering how it use to be

when they were young and full of pride.

Dancing against the clock,

tomorrow nowhere near the cost.

For two lovers who forgot to check in,

reality weighs its payback.

Jim’s wife about to take the stand,

demanding payment in silver and gold.

She’ll thank Jim for the good times

and leave him drowning in the red.

This line plucked a heartstring – “For two lovers who forgot to check in, reality weighs its payback.” – a sad bridge from my life’s song. Thank you for another lovely poem Brenda. πŸ™‚

Happy Sunday, Tami. πŸ™‚ I hope the day sees you well. And I’m sorry to hear that. I hope the bridge was crossed in victory. It goes to show that we can never truly know another person’s story. I tell students that because we don’t always know what someone might be going through, treat everyone with kindness and respect. On a different note, I wanna thank you for reading and commenting as always. Your continued support means so much to me. πŸ™‚

Happy Sunday to you too Brenda! If you never cross bridges you will never discover new lands. πŸ™‚ It was a sad time but it needed to happen. All is well now, lessons were learned and the mistakes are no longer repeated. I have a much better understanding of how to maintain and nurture a successful relationship. πŸ™‚

    • CyberneticBlonde says:

How true is that. Here’s to new discoveries! πŸ™‚ Each lesson helps us grow and become who we are. I’m grateful for every one of them. πŸ™‚
